Choosing HD to boot from

  mrbuk 12:16 11 Jan 05

I have 2 hard drives in my PC, connected as main and slave, boot up is from the main HD to Windows XP.
Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way to select booting from slave which has Linux on it, without going in to setup or swapping the cables around.

Hi, You have to instal a 'Boot Loader' like os loader, Look in the download section of this site and you will find one. Cheers, Bill

Alternatively some computers allow you to specify which drive to boot from by pressing F8 on startup. This will bring up a menu of all bootable drives and by selecting the second drive will boot this. Alternatively Linux usually allows you to create a floppy disk that allows you to boot into Linux.

LeadingMNMS, Thanks for that, another little trick I didn't know about. Cheers, Bill
