chkdsk runs everytime i restart

when irestart my puter from desktop, before windows starts it does a disc check ,it says one of the discs needs to be checked for consistency----what does this mean???

try this, close all running prorams go to start/run and type chkdsk c: /r then enter, if you are asked do you want to run on reboot choose no, if not let it run. I'm not sure this will solve your problem but it's worth a try.

tried rawprawns chkdsk c: /r ,thanks but didnt work. there is also on stage 1 of check disc unreadable files ,34600,34601,34602,34603,on stage 2- verifying indexes,it says unspecified error occured. iam running xp pro, not very fluent with puter jargon,and completely lost
