CHKDSK - corrupt attribute records

  slimzippy 10:59 28 Aug 03

Sometimes when I start an application WinXP pro reports an error that it can?t start because a file is missing or corrupt. When I run chkdsk it reports than there are certain files with ?corrupt attribute records?. I have to reinstall the application to get things working again.
Why does this happen? It?s happened twice in the last week. My hard drive is relatively new ? I installed a new Maxtor diamond plus in May. I?m using NTFS.

Any advice appreciated
