Checkdisk in XP

Hi, i went to run Checkdisk in XP Pro today, however, it came up with a message like as windows needs access to all files it will schedule it to run the next time the computer is rebooted. On that note i rebooted the computer and it took several attempts to run the utility, as it kept on rebooting. It flashed with the light blue screen and then rebooted. It rebooted about 7 times until it started. Does anybody know the reason for this?

It will only error check system drive on reboot. Try checking 'scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors' and run again. It takes much longer.
