Check signal cable

Hi - this has just appeared on my desktop monitor and from what I can glean, seeems to be a graphics card problem?

I've checked all the external cables are plugged in properly, but as I've got two monitors and the other one displays what it usually does (a blank desktop, no icons) does this indicate a problem with the internal connection to the graphics card, or could the card itself be knackered? (a technical term for malfunctioning equipment,I believe)

Once again, why do these things happen overnight...

Could also be the monitor. Change monitors over if same problem its likely to be the graphics card.
