Check BIOS before buying hard drive?

  Dalglish2 20:29 19 Sep 08

I have a 5year old desktop running XP home, AMD Athlon chip 2400+ and I wish to replace my 12Gb hard drive to something over 100Gb.
However, I have been told my BIOS may not accommodate this so i would like to establish this before shelling out.
Any ideas?
Many thanks

a 5 year old PC should see a drive upto 127G and probably bigger.

if you have XP SP2 then XP will see even larger drives.

"Overlay" software will get round the problem anyway.

It's normally the software provided by the drive manufacturer.
