CHAP authentication failure

I wonder if anyone can help? I have Tiscali broadband and use a Netgear DG834GT router that has been working fine for the past 6 months. But yesterday, I couldn't connect to the internet. I have rebooted the device, with no success. I have also reset the device, updated the firmware and entered the correct settings as defined by Tiscali, but just get the log "CHAP authentication failure."

Anyone got any bright ideas? Tiscali help is useless as you get taken through the setup procedure even though I try to explain that I have already done it. When that doesn't work - it's your device that's broken. This router works on a colleague's telephone line, so I know it's not that.

Your ISP is not recognising your details. I see two possibilities, your username/password has been entered incorrectly (unlikely as it had been working fine) or your ISPs records are incorrect. You need to get Tiscali to check/reset their records. Good luck!
