changing windows

im curently running windows xp pro but i want to change back to windows 98 se it says i cant i have to load it im msdose mode but i dont know how to do that can anyone help please

This is probably because you are using NTFS file system with XP and need FAT 32 for 98se.

You will need to boot from a floppy boot disk and reformat the drive from the DOS prompt. Once the drive is formatted in FAT 32 you can go into your BIOS and set your CD drive as first boot drive.

Insert your 98se disk which will then boot and install direct from the 98se CD.

If your drive is partitioned you'll probably find that you'll only be able to format the primary DOS partition, the extended DOS partition in NTFS needs to be removed, which FDISK won't do. In this article there's a little program that will remove the NTFS partition for you.
