changing win workstation 4.0 for win 98se

can anybody out there help me please.
i have just bought a secondhand laptop,the trouble is it has windows workstation 4.0 on it but i dont like it and want to install windows 98se on it instead.i have tried to install win 98se but the computer tells me i cant install it without shutting down/deleting/uninstalling workstation first.this is all new to me so can anybody please tell me in simple terms how to install windows 98se and get rid of workstation.

You will need a boot (floppy) disk to begin with. Get one at, for example, click here

Then restart the pc with that floppy disk.

Then use the fdisk command to clear all that is on the hard disk at the moment - see click here for a guide to using fdisk.

Then format the hard disk.

Then insert your win98 cd and install windows 98.
