Changing the Sound Scheme in XP

A couple of days ago the system locked-up and had to be reset using the power switch. On rebooting the Microsoft applications in 3 of the 4 user accounts had been "reset" and all user shortcuts/settings (include e-mail settings) had been lost.

A full system scan by Norton AV didn't turn up any problems but I can no longer adjust the sound scheme settings except for Net Meeting, Explorer and Windows Messenger.

Anyone got any ideas?

Not really but generally speaking, running the system file checker can sort some problems...

start

run

sfc /scannow

and click run.

Sorry to hear that :-{

Maybe a reinstall of your sound card drivers...
