Changing Resolution

When I change the resolution on my laptop, I can't see the desktop icons - must be something obvious (i assume) - any help out there?

This is reminiscent of a problem I once saw with a laptop where changing to a higher resolution actually increased the desktop area to take up an area larger than the screen. At first glance it appeared to be a blank desktop but the icons were just off the left of the screen with the taskbar off the bottom. Moving the mouse to the edge of the screen panned the display to reveal the icons or taskbar. If this is the case with your's then I confess that I never found a cure for it but fortunately it wasn't my laptop so I didn't have to live with it.

as far as i know most laptops, like most tft monitors work best with at their native resolution.

what size of screen do you have and what resolution are you using or trying to change it to and why?

what version of windows do you have? and your laptop model may also help a bit please.
