Changing 'My Display Name' in MSN Messenger

  Groblok 14:24 22 Oct 06

I have just signed up for MSN Messenger and i'm having problems changing my display name. I am using it on 2 computers. A desk top running windows xp home 2 and a lap top using windows 2000 professional.
MSN Messenger on the xp machine is version 8 and the display name is blank and greyed out.
MSN Messenger on the xp machine is version 6 and the display name is my e-mail address and also greyed out.
I am unable to change the display name on either computer.
I am connecting to the internet with BT total broadban option 3 on the desk top and have a sub account for my son who is also registered with msn messenger. I can change his diplay name. Any help appreciated as I don't want my e-mail address displayed.

Hi, I believe MSN Msg is now known as Windows Live Messenger, perhaps you should upgrade, it is free as I am sure you are aware. In WLM you can go to Options where you will find how to set your display name.
