Changing a large number of files' extensions

I am a big fan of audiobooks and friends will sometimes give me a CD with an audiobook on it that is mp3 and split into several individual chapters. I know how to process CD's into iTunes and how to convert to .m4b, my problem is that for a typical audiobook I have to repeat this operation very many times. Is there any way that I can change the extension of a whole batch of .m4a into .m4b files?
