Changing Graphics & sound cards

Hi all, I am about to upgrade my graphics card to one that is compatible with Windows 7 ( new Nvidia GeForce 210) as I have trouble with my existing card with which Dvi won't work ( works on VGA). I updated the drivers to W7 but still no luck. It worked
ok on XP but not when used on my W7 set up.
My question is do I need to uninstall the old drivers?, if so how? and if I do, won;t it disable my Display so that I am unable to see what I am doing.
I am also fitting a new sound card as my older one works but not now in surround, does the same driver query apply. Thanks
