I use a template in Microsoft Excel for my invoices. Unfortunately, I seem to have a problem with the dates. I expected that after saving an invoice using this template, the date would remain unchanged. But that is not so, because it changes on a daily basis. This means that I cannot retrieve an invoice bearing the date of the day on which it was prepared and saved. All invoices bear today's date. I need help here, folks. How can I have my saved invoice dates unchanging? Thanks in advance.

If you go to the cell with the date in and look at the formula bar you will probably see that it contains:

which is designed to update each time the sheet calculates.

To solve the problem either:

a) Type in the date

b) In the cell enter

=NOW() (do NOT press Enter)

then press F9, then press Enter. Then format the cell as a date.
