Changing a comport

I am trying to upload some info via a RS232 to USB cable. When I loaded the driver it went to COM9. The software will only load on ports 1 to 4. Only port 1 is in use at present. Is it possible to force a change from COM9 TO 2,3 OR 4?

Uninstall all your com ports in device manager.

Scan for new hard ware and let windows reinstall Com ports 1 and 2 (hardware ones).

reinstall your rivers and they should then make the next available ports.

Thanks for the reply, sorry Ive been a while answering. I have tried that four times know and it comes back COM9 every time. Is there a way to allocate a Port?
