Changing (COM1) to (COM2) by software

When resetting my hard drive I somehow got 'Outlook Express' and modem connected to (COM1)which I need for another use.

Is there any way I can change the modem to read from (COM2) without physically changing the plug?

Other software that I have can do this but I can not find a solution with 'Outlook Express'

change the modem port i the control panel 'Modems'

you may have to add modem and select com2 then delete the modem on com1;

or go to modems in the device manager and change the port settings to com2 settings.

Check you BIOS to see if the default modem port is defined and ensure it is set to com2.
