changing CD drive to CD-RW drive.....any advice?

Hello everyone,

A quick question.

I am about to replace a CD Drive with a CD-RW drive. Is it as simple as just taking out the old CD drive out and putting in the new CD-RW drive?

The computer has Windows 98 installed, will Windows just automatically detect the drive or will the drive not work at all until I have installed the appropriate drivers?

Thank you in advance.

Windows should be able to detect the new drive and load all of the required drivers.

What you will need is CD burning software which will most likely be supplied with the drive. When everything is loaded, go to the writing software website and download the latest version. you should be able to do that for free.
