Hello all,

Random question, what processor would perform better in games, multitasking and running everyday programs?

Celeron D 3.46GHz - Cedar Mill (From 2006) (1 Core)

or

Pentium 4 1.90GHz - Willamette (From 2001) (1 Core)

Thanks.

I had a Celeron processor in a PC I had a few years back. Although at the time with it been my first PC I never really noticed its slow performance until I got my next PC, this one had a Pentium 4 processor, and it was massively quicker than the Celeron. The Celeron's tended to be put in budget machines, whereas the Pentium 4's were put in more expensive and higher performance PC's

In your case, the Celeron will outpace the P4 considerably.

Celeron D360 3.46MHz 512K Cache 533MHz FSB

PentiumĀ® 4 1.90GHz, 256K Cache, 400MHz FSB

The Celeron runs nearly twice the speed, has twice the cache, and a faster Front Side Bus - no contest.

Make sure it's in a system with a separate graphics card for gaming.

Sorry - Celeron should say 3.46GHz - my mistype.

  DieSse 00:56 15 May 09

Oh - and the Celeron is a 64b-it processor, the Pentium a 32-bit.

Cheers for the info DieSse.
