Celeron 2.7Ghz £80 vs Pentium 4 2GHz £102

Is the performance difference between
Celeron annd P4 justify the price difference.

I am thinking of the following two options:

Celeron 2.7Ghz £80 vs Pentium 4 2GHz £102

I will go for Celeron, but would like to know
what I missed.

Its about the threading and how much the megahertz is.

remember the celeron has much less L2 cache so has to make a lot more calls to the memory, and causing wasted wait states that slow things down.

presumably you already have the motherboard hence you are not considering an AMD processor which could save you some money if the purse strings are tight.

Hyperthreading (not a new idea actually) only came in from 3.0MHz.

I think that Hyperthreading came in with the P4's and starts at 2.5 Mhz, may be wrong though. j.

Hyperthreading (and 800MHz FSB) starts with the 2.4GHz P4 - but non-hyperthreading variants are still also available.
