put in a Philips cd writer into P3 500 msi mobo 256ram but it sometimes does not acknowledge the software disk that comes with it or blank cd media when trying to burn a new disc.
Also hear the disc spinning constantly , as in 15 mins longest i let it run,but it does not read the cd.
the writer works fine as does the software as it has just been taken out a perfectly good machine.

please help.

try a different brand of CDR or CDRW disc

PS you may be able to get a firmware update from the Philips site

If you are win98 go into device manager and remove the CDRW and restart to let windows reconfigure the drive

You shouldnt leave it in the drive for to long trying to read the cd as this could damage your drive.

cannot see any difference in that, and it taking 30 mins to write a cd. as it can take more than 15 mins if it's an old and slow reader or computer
