CD-RW not recognised

Om my daughter's laptop, running XP, the Iomega CD-RW is connected, and is showing as working correctly in the Device Manager.

Windows Media Player also recognises is as a device.

However, when attempting to copy to CD, in both MP and in Roxio Easy CD, the message 'No Device Detected' is displayed.

Help?

No CD/DVD
This is sometimes caused by the removal of Roxio software.Try this if the optical drives are not appearing in My Computer or Device Manager.

Run regedit and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. Highlight it and in the right pane, find the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values. Highlight each one in turn, right click and delete them. Close regedit and restart the computer. If if doubt make a restore point before making changes.

Fruit Bat...

Many thanks, but I'd already been to the KB and done that.
