Cd-R/RW dying?

My Philips CD-R/RW (PCRW 1208) has started to misbehave!
The CD is non-readable and when ejected, the CD is still spinning quite fast. Does this mean that the CD writer has expired?
Thanks
D

I had a Phillips CD R/RW with exactly those symptoms. The drive was kaputt and I had to replace it.

Thanks pepe. Makes the solution easy.

Any suggestions as to a replacement? My 1998 Dell has been upgraded to a 1.4 Celeron with 80GB HD and runs Win ME with 384MB memory.

Can you get a DVD/CD-RW reasonably priced?

I've seen cheap DVD Drives at click here and click here, but you can probably get them anywhere at similar prices.
