CD-Rom and DVD drives stopped working

  SHUNNA 15:32 02 Jan 05

After trying to update the driver for my SB. PCI Audio card everything froze so had to switch off power and reboot.
Now in device drivers, both cd writer and dvd drives have yellow exclamation signs against them. Under Device Status for both says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this Hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)
Also in System devices there is an exclamation mark against Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator, with the device status message as previous.

I tried a System Restore but on log in after restart says Restoration Incomplete, your computer cannot be restored to ......
No changes have been made.

Any help would be appreciated.
