cd rom drive problem

ive got xp and a combi drive that was always drive D now it seems to have changed to Q for some reason?? i have removed and reinstalled it and is still listed as Q drive.any ideas what might have changed this?it seems to be working alright well it doesnt like cd-rw discs but it never did.ta.

Do you know what the problem is and want confirmation or are you really stuck?
Happy to help as soon as the problem is nearly identified (by yourself. Why did the drive change? Have you reinstalled? have you changed physical layout. What's going on!!

You can change it back if you like.

Start > Run > Copy and Paste:

diskmgmt.msc

Then right click your CD drive and the bottom choose "Change drive letter and path...".

Click change and choose D once again.

Click ok after pasting diskmgmt.msc.

Powerless thank you yet again.no real problem was just annoying.dont know why this changed.just did a fresh install of xp home last week and could have swore was set as D as was before.
