CD-ROM drive lost

  olympian 18:00 17 Jun 03

This relates to a Windows 95 where, on "starting windows", CD-Rom is reported found, but the CD-Rom drive letter E: disappears in the My Computer directory, hence no CD is playable. The Control/Device Manager/View device by connection
shows the two dreadful yellow exclamation marks saying that the Mitsumi CD-Rom drive has not been installed!?

Hi, You appear to have lost the CD/ROM drivers. There are lots of reasons for this happening. You can re-load the generic drivers from your start up disc or do an over instal of your operating system. Cheers, Bill

in device manager, delete the cdrom drive, restart your computer, windows should reinstall the drivers when fully rebooted
