CD-ROM drive and installation probs

I reverted back to a factory back up image on my pc and have altered partition sizes on the hard drive. I now seem to be experiencing a problem intsalling software from CD. When I try to load Norton Anti-Virus, the machine hangs and then quits to a blue screen where I have to reboot. Other disks take an age to install and the drive seems to be spinng much faster than before.

Any ideas??

I though about reinstalling the CD driver?

Assume you are using Windows XP ?

Did you create a restore point prior to altering partition sizes on the hard drive ? If so go back to that point .... look at 'Windows Help' if you do not know how !

Look at 'System' in Control Panel to see if CD is working correctly and if you need reinstall CD driver from here.

...it seems that I can install other software, just appears to be a problem with Norton Anti-Virus. Yes I am on XP
