CD Re Writers for Laptops

I have a Toshiba Laptop with a CD drive to which I can not save any work to transfer to other computers. I have tried to find a CD rewriter but none seem to be available.
Is it possible to change these (quite small) cd drives on Laptops?
I am not even sure how to open the case.
I would be grateful for any information on this problem.

Frustrated.

birdy11, it is not general practice to open a laptop up as they can be very difficult to get in to if you do not know what you are doing.

You could purchase an external drive for the laptop.

Thanks "recap" for the idea. That is what I will do!

Freecom Classic - CD-RW drive - external - 52x24x52x - Hi-Speed USB would be a good choice or better still an external DVD writer. Look in click here or PC world. There are many listed

Thanks Hamish. I have always had good service from DABS so I am looking at their website.
