CD-R not recognised

  paul_allard 10:25 01 May 04

I bought some old radio shows off Ebay in the format of MP3s on CD-R disks.

I listened to some of them without too much difficulty but now my LG CD-ROM burner drive does not recognise that there is anything on the disk.

This happens in Media Player, My Computer, Explorer etc..

Any ideas what I can do to make the CD-ROM recognise the MP3s on the disk ?

I'm running Windows XP

My first thought is the cd id it dirty or scratched?

Have you always listened to them on the LG?

Do they work on another CD-ROM drive?

If so, the LG's laser could have given up the ghost or the leads/cables may have become loose or dislodged, perhaps whilst working inside the case.

Also try Removing the drive in Device Manager, rebooting, letting XP detect new hardware and install the basic CDROM driver (all that is required).

Sorry didn't make myself clear.

Have tried ordinary CDs successfully so it isn't the LG.

All three of these "radio" CD-Rs go unnoticed.

I have a feeling that it's the nature of the files that's posing the problem (associations ? )
