CD player and a win95PC

hi all, my daughters PC which runs win95 has a broken CD player, the one in there at the moment is the type which pulls the CD in, anyway, if i go and get another one are they all the same, i realize it will not be an auto disk load type, but i can not see why it should not fit...

so in a nutshell, should it just plug in with the same wires.....thanks

A standard cd-rom (rw if you want) should fit - they are generally of one size. But it might depend on the manufacturer of the PC - some, like Compaq for example, used to use their own components which could not easily be changed. Give details of the machine and someone may know better.

thanks for that, but, it looks like the first nail in the coffin, it is a Compaq Presario 4526.

thanks if anyone can help....and thanks just for reading it.........

You will have to go into BIOS setup at the start of computer and auto detect the CD drive. It should be also set on the jumper at the back of the drive the same as the old one you remove
