CD not recognising Writable CD

  aich 11:17 14 May 05

Recently I had a problem on my laptop whereby the CD (CD/DVD reader,CD Burner) was not recognised in My Computer. I had recently removed Roxio. I overcame this problem with a registry change as shown in microsoft knowledgebase.
I now have no problem reading and opening CD's. A further problem now exists in that the CD will not recognise re-writablw CD's and I cannot therefore burn any CD. The CD can be seen in explorer, but the recording software does not recognise it. Also when I try to backup my Quicken files Quciken cannot arite to the CD.

I have Windows XP Home and use Disc Master for recording.

Open my computer and right click on the drive; under properties, ensure that the option to allow the drive to write files is clicked.

I don't know the exact terminology as I don't use XP.
