both my drives have stopped working suddenly. A big red question mark appears on tehm on the desktop and in devidce driver properties says

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

What is code 39 and does anyone know what I should do. Drivers are supposed to be integral in WinXP - Tried in vain to find drivers amongst umpteen disks that came with PC and of course I can't read CDs anyway cos my drives don't work.

Tried manufacturer's sites but TEAC & Pioneer only supply upgrades which says it can't find target drives

right click the drive in device manager and remove then restart windows and it should reinstall automatically.

or try restarting the computer selecting last known good configuration.
