CD drive not recognised in 95

  Elyvate 16:24 09 Oct 03

its me again,
I have an old 95 computer that I have given to my mum. The only problem is that the cd drive doesn't work and I cant find the drivers and every cd drive install, windows doesn't recognise. There is power as the drive can be opened and closed.
I'm not sure the make and model of the drive but I think its some sort of generic brand and its old.
any help would be appreciated
