CD drive and headphones

I've got both a CD drive and CD rewriter, both Liteon models, both having an headphone socket on the front. However when I plug my headphones in I cannot get any sound. What am I doing wrong?

You need to turn volume up on the drive ,and u will only hear anything if you have a music or audio cd playing.

Hi Old-timer, I also have a CD-RW and a CD-Rom.
When I installed the CD-RW (and made it Master) I left the sound cable attached between the CD-Rom and the motherboard. Therefore there is no sound cable from the CD-RW.
Consequently, I can hear sound through the speakers and the head phones from the CD-Rom but only through the headphones from the CD-RW.
I would suggest you check on how many sound cables you have and to what they are attached.
