CD Burning

Do burned CDs eventually wear out?

  recap 19:34 18 May 03

I would think they will have the same shelf life as a shop bought one.

So long as they do not get scratched, then no, they will not "wear out" and the image will last as recap states.

However, CD REWRITABLES (Disks that you can write to more than once and then delete files and start over) DO wear out. The reason for this difference is that the medium that takes the image is changing each time you re-write and after enough the quality of the image will render the disk next to useless.
