CD burning

I've been trying to back up my itunes onto cd, but some discs have a really bad crackling noise. I have tried slowing down the burn to as little as x8. Do I need pukka audio cd's or will my cheapo ones be ok and should be looking elsewhere.

Thanks for any help

Cheap CDs are what they say - cheap. However you shouldn`t be getting a `crackling noise` on them. Have you tried cleaning the heads on your DVD/CD recorder as it may be a case of dirt. Failing that a check of connections may be in order.

I forgot to mention, it tends to be the songs lower down the playlist that crackle. But I will try the cleaner.
