Cd Burner not working properly

  hobarth 20:24 16 Sep 10

I have a HP Pavilion Laptop which uses a Mat*!@:a UJ-840D CD rom Driver.
The problem is that when I try and burn a cd I get an error message which says that the discs need cleaning.
I have tried different discs and today bought brand new ones and the error occurs.
I use Real player (which has worked successfully in the past) I have tried NCH and IMG but the same problem persist.
I have used cd rom cleaners both wet aand dry to no avail.

If it's XP then it coulk be you need to Disable the 'IMAPI CD-Burning COM' service.

XP has it's own CD burning engine.

To disable :-

On Desktop click 'Start'
Select 'Control Panel'
Click on 'Administrative Tools'
Click on 'Services'
Right click (on IMAPI) then select 'Properties'
In the middle of the window, it will say 'Start up type'. Click on the arrow to the right & select 'Disabled' and then click APPLY.

If this does not work you could try upgrading the driver and firmware.

I've always found the built-in Windows CD burner troublesome.

I use CDBurnerXP, which I reckon is far superior. It's freeware, and despite its name it seems to work find under Vista and Windows 7, as well as XP.

Try it. click here

Thanks for vthe help.
I tried disabling but this had no effect.

I downloaded CD XPBurner this has, so far, solved my problem.

Thank you both for your help
