CD Audio Playback

In the 1970s I used to play clarinet in a jazz band. I have a few Audio Cassettes of the band which I am now transferring to CD. The first one I have done plays back OK on the computer via the CD rom. It also plays back OK in my car CD player but it won't play back on my HI-FI CD player at all. All it does is spin round for a bit and then ejects. I have asked my next door neighbour to try it and he gets exactly the same thing. OK on the PC, OK in the car but no go on a domestic CD player. Windows explorer shows 19 tracks all .cda

I have Windows 98SE and am using Neroburn 6.3

Any ideas anyone please?

obvious question but have you closed the cd?

Yes, disc is finalised.

If you used CD-RW then this is the reason and you should use CD-R.

It was an Imation 700mb/80min CDR not a CD/RW.

Have just tried it on my domestic DVD player and it plays OK although the sound is from the TV (mono). I thought it might be my CD player has had enough but it still plays other audio CDs OK. Just not this one. I tried copying a commercial CD using Nero and that plays OK on the CD player.

I am still working on this, but as the thread is so old I will close it now.

Will repost if necessary.

Most likely your hi-fi CD player isn't capable of playing certain types of disks, especially if it is an older model.

Stuartli is on the money here.

I've done what you have Pete and the two older players simply won't play the disks.

A two year old player and a three year old (guessing about the ages a bit) play them fine.
