CCleaner results

I have been using CCleaner for some time but have noticed something odd.

When I click the Analysis button it finishes with the message........

131.17MB to be removed. (Approximate size)

Then when I click the Run Cleaner button i get the message

CLEANING COMPLETE - (11.520 secs)
72.2MB removed.

Why has it told me it only removed 72.2MB when it said it found 131.17Mb to be removed???

The rest of the mb's could be in use at the time.

Shut down all running programs and any start up items then run the cleaner again...

You could,as I do set, it to empty everything at start up.

I`m not certain, but could it be that Ccleaner is identifying everything that it could remove but you have unchecked one or more of the boxes?

Or it is including temp files newer than 48hrs old, perhaps. Which are removed unless you change your options.

CCleaner returns the total of what may be removed. However, like me you may have kept some cookies "live" which CCleaner will ignore when you "run cleaner" thus leaving the difference in what can be removed and what has been removed (as other contributers have just said

Thanks to all for your tips. (I thought I had already done this)
