I don't think there is a "career" in it anymore, at least not if you are employed by someone else.
Do you mean a career in IT teaching or building and selling computers? What IT qualifications have you got already? I was an IT teacher for City and Guilds NVQ up to Level 3. and also RSA levels 1 and 2. Fortunately I am now retired. You would need at least C&G D32 and D33, which I have. Although retired I still teach privately and have 30 people on my books. Check out your local Council and see what Adult Education courses are being offered.
