  ethelene 11:10 12 Mar 05

I downloaded and ran the XP antispyware yesterday and now I cannot switch the XP firewall on - the link is missing.

What should I do? I am not techie at all and so need plain simple explanations. Help!

Step 1: Winsock reset

1. Go to the command prompt and then type the command "Netsh winsock reset"

Got a message saying that to complete the reset Restart your computer restart the computer and then reinstall tcpip

Step 2: Reinstall TCP/IP

1. Go to Folder options and to tab named view

2. Choose the options to show hidden files and folders

3. Apply the settings and the open the network connection window

4. Right click on the network connection and then try to install TCP/IP from there

I am very grateful for the very quick solution.
