Can't turn on Windows Firewall

When I go to windows firewall and try to turn it ON as reccommend. This options is greyed out. Can anyone help?

I don't know which version of Windows you're using, but in XP the firewall only operates on incoming data. There is no coverage for outgoing. I'm not sure whether this is also true for Vista.

have you completed all the xp updates for ur computerclick here
One you have completed ALL the updates, then try again.

Have you perhaps got a different firewall running already? That might prevent the Windows firewall from being available to be switched on.

This problem is usually caused by the fact that another firewall is already running and this will disable the Windows firewall. The other possibility is that a virus is preventing you from starting it!
