Can't send emails from Outlook Express

I recently took a broadband package with Sky and was given a Sky email address which I have successfully set up via Outlook Express. However I wish to continue using my old dial-up email provided by Virgin, but through my broadband connection, obviously to save me some dosh!! I've tried setting it up on Outlook Express and can successfully receive emails into my Virgin account but cannot send them. Virgin have made a number of suggestions, all of which have failed to solve my problem. Can anyone out there help me - it must be something very simple. By the way - my Sky email is set up as IMAP (?) but my Virgin is a POP3 account if this helps.
