Can't restore back up to Microsoft Money

  popgeoff 12:43 05 Jan 15

I had an imminent hard drive failure and backed up my 10 years of Microsoft Money data to a flash drive. The hard drive failed and a new one was installed. I reloaded the Money software and thought that it would be a simple operation to restore the backed up data. No such luck as I get the message. "Unable to open QData backup.mbf files.

Any ideas as I am at a loss. I would really like to get my old data back ! It's there somewhere !!

Remove Money completely then reinstall it.

Do not try to use your back up yet but continue with Money as if you are going to start a new set up. During this process you should be offered the option to update your installation. Accept this and when you next run Money you should be able to restore your original back up.
