MS Office cannot read MS Works files and never could. You have two options. Install MS Works on your computer. or, find someone who has MS Works and get them to convert the works spreadsheet files to .csv. csv files can be read by almost any spreadsheet programme. I have both MS Office and MS Works on my PC. If you like to send me a copy of the file either on a floppy or a CD I will convert it for you and post it back.

you have tried this but . . . .

go to the Downloads section of office XP and see if there is a converter ?
