Can't install Windows Media 11

I have Windows XP Pro SP2 and Windows Media 10. when I try to install 11 it stops around 87% and tells me that it can't install 11. Any ideas as why it's behaving like that?

I know you do not have the XP media player version of windows but there was a rool up update for it which must be downloaded before 11 install. It was found in the custom area of win updates rather than coming through as a high priority. it might be worth doing a custom run to see if there is anything there for you.

Here are the release notes for WMP 11. click here

I have the same problem, up to 87% then nothing. Error can not install Windows Media Player 11.
Have tried several times and have looked at Microsoft site for answers with no luck. Has anybody else got any advice.
