Something has happened in the past 48 hours to stop me starting up Windows 7, it will not accept the password that been used for the past 18 months. Any ideas how to get into the system so that I can de-activate the password function. The PC is a Dell. Thanks DGS

If the advice you get on here resuts in it not being fixed, have a look on e-bay you can get a CD on there for 2£-or £3 to remove passwords.

In the meantime see if you can sign in using the administration account in safe mode.

Thanks for the help, in the end I managed to get into Safe Mode by pulling out the mains plaug during boot-up, this enabled me to do a Sys Restore and get things going again.

I'm glad that you are sorted.
