Can't get past opening first desktop icon in XP

i have w xp home. It has been working fine until recently. When I start up I click on to the first (for example) the Google desk top icon. Google opens up fine. when I x out of Google (or other first site) and attempt to click on to a second site via its desktop icon, I get no response. The screen appears to freeze although the mouse and cursor can still rove around.

I then have to ctrl alt delete or ctrl shift esc and start up again

Any ideas please

Are you saying that you have separate desktop icons for your favourite websites?

I thought that's what the Favorites option was for in IE.

Are you on Dial-Up

in business time is money. regularly used sites are best accessed by a simple click.

A totally unhelpful reply

"regularly used sites are best accessed by a simple click".

But by your own admission, your method is not working - which is why we are trying to help.

Can you access sites by clicking through the Favorites menu or typing in the individual URL?

If you use IE have you tried this click here

Why not try what I use, Netscape, as I was forever having to repair IE. click here
