Can't get internet sharing to work between 2 PC's

  jameswalpole 20:12 15 Apr 06

Hi all !

I'm wanting to share my internet connection to my kids PC and maybe printer sharing too, I've connected both machines via a patch lead and both machines have the Local area connection showing, I've given each PC a name and a common workgroup name, I've run the XP Network setup wizard on both machines but I can't get them to talk to eachother or share internet.

Both run XP Pro.

I've connected both machines via a patch lead

Assume you mean a crossover cable?

MAke sure simpl file sharing is enabled on both PCs and check the firewall settings.

File sharing is enabled, I'm running Zone Alarm Pro and I've given permission to MSHOME

No, I'm using a patch lead, ie same wiring both ends, should I be using a crossover cable instead ?????
