cant get Internet Explorer on desktop as shortcut

i am running windows xp and want internet explorer as a shortcut on my desktop, instead of having to go to start then up to i e. on windows 98 i could right click on i e and send it to my desktop but all i get when i do this under xp is brouse the internet, internet properties and remove from this list, no shortcut options are available. what am i doing wrong?

The option is there if you switch to classic view. But your using the XP view so it will not be there.

But just go to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer

Create shortcut or copy to the desktop; the IE icon.
